Discover ancient trails once walked by the protagonists of local legends, always in search of the minerals that this land is rich in and that were extracted here in the Montevecchio Mines. On this trek, you will explore one of the areas of the Sardinia Geomining Park, starting from the historic village of Montevecchio, where charming historical buildings still stand, including the magnificent Direzione Palace.

You will walk along the Cernitrici Trail, a place of reflection that recalls the hard work of the women who sorted minerals and commemorates 11 workers, many of them very young, who lost their lives here. The trek continues through an extraordinary natural setting, passing ancient mining facilities until you reach Cantiere Telle, home to the majestic Pozzo Amsicora, an impressive structure that has become a symbol of the miners’ struggle to prevent the mine’s final closure in the 1990s.
